158 Taliban killed during separate ANDSF operations

Ministry of defense in a released statement on Monday said at least 158 Taliban militants were killed and further 37 others were wounded in the past 24 hours as a result of Afghan National Defense and Security Forces’ operations.

According to the MoD, the Taliban suffered heavy casualties in ANDSF operations and on the different battlefields across Afghanistan.

The Taliban affiliates were killed during the clashes that took place in Ghazni, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Herat, Farah, Ghor, Jawzjan, Helmand, Takhar, Badakhshan, Baghlan, and Kabul provinces.

According to the statement a large number of weapons and ammunition belonging to the Taliban were also destroyed.

The Ministry of Defense also added that ANDSF discovered and defused 48 various types of IEDs and bombs placed in the embattled regions to target civilians and the security forces during the counter-attack operations.

Meanwhile, MoD in a communique said that Afghan commando forces detained a key Taliban commander named “Abdullah”, son of Nematullah from a market in Shindand district of Herat Province.

The captured individual was responsible for targeting and assassinating government employees.

Afghan commandos also seized some weapons and ammunition along with the militant.

Meanwhile, security sources in Ghor province said that a Taliban infiltrator shot four security members at a checkpoint before fleeing the area.

The Taliban infiltrator also took all of the equipment with him after committing the crime.

The insider attack incident took place at a security checkpoint in “Telk Kasi” village of Firuzkuh, the capital of Ghor province on Sunday night.

According to sources, the bodies of the murdered security force members were taken to the provincial hospital.

Both security officials and the Taliban have not commented on the incident.

Moreover, security sources in Ghazni province said Abdul Ghafur Marjankhel the acting police chief for Giro district was killed in an IED explosion.

Sources at Ghazni’s police HQ on condition of anonymity told the media that the incident took place in the village of Chahar Burjah in the Khwaja Omari district of the province.

The incident happened while Marjankhel was driving to provide drinking water at Giro police checkpoints in Khwaja Omari district when his vehicle collided with a roadside bomb, killing him on the spot.

According to the sources the mine was placed by the Taliban.

Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
