A group of 13 militants affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group surrendered to Afghan forces in Kunar.

The 201st Silab Corps said in a statement the ISIS militants surrnedered to Afghan forces on Thursday.

The statement did not disclose further information regarding the exact location where the ISIS militants surrendered.

However, the 201st Silab Corps said the Afghan forces will continue suppressing the foreign terrorists including ISIS militants inside the Afghan soil.

The ISIS sympathizers have not commented regarding the surrender of 13 ISIS militants so far.

The security situation in Kunar province has deteriorated during the recent years.

Taliban militants, ISIS terrorists and militants of the other groups are active in some districts of Kunar where they often conduct terrorist related activities.

Meanwhile, the Afghan forces routinely conduct counter-terrorism operations against the anti-government armed groups in this province.

The U.S. forces also conduct regular airstrikes in restive parts of the country to suppress the militant groups.
