13 ISIS militants killed in Nangarhar airstrikes, MoD claims

Afghan Air Force raidsAt least 13 loyalists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group were killed in a series of airstrikes in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said.

The airstrikes were carried out in the restive Kot district where the loyalists of the terror group started operations initially along with some other districts, including Achin.

The defense ministry further added that 13 loyalists of the terror group were also wounded in the airstrikes.

The loyalists of the terror group have not commented regarding the report so far.

This comes as the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) launched a major operation against the terror group in Kot district nearly ten days ago.

The operations were launched to curb the terrorist activities of ISIS loyalists and numerous compounds belonging to the terror group were captured or destroyed.

The US forces in Afghanistan also supported the Afghan forces during the operation and at least 5 US troops were wounded during the initial days of the operations.

The US forces in Afghanistan are also conducting regularly airstrikes against the terror group as the Obama administration granted broader role to the US military to target the ISIS and Taliban insurgents in the country.
