12 soldiers from Afghan National Army have embraced martyrdom and 115 militants killed in two days military operations across the country, the Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday morning.
A twitter post by General Zahir Azimi, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, states that: “In past 48 hours 115 terrorists have been killed, 41 wounded, 5 detained, a number of armament seized and 12 soldiers embraced martyrdom.”
This comes amid large scale military operations against insurgents across the country.
The independent operations were launched after Afghan National Security Forces took full responsibility of security from NATO forces at the beginning of this year.
NATO had lost 3,485 service members during its 13-year long combat mission in Afghanistan which ended in December 2014.
NATO is now leading a Resolute Support mission that is focusing on training, advising and supporting the Afghan forces and its institutions.
