The security forces carried out a series of operations and airstrikes in southern Helmand province killing at least 11 Taliban militants and destroying narcotics and IED making materials.
“An Afghan special forces raid in Nahr-e Saraj destroyed 50lbs of illegal narcotics and IED making materials,” the informed military sources said Friday.
The sources further added “In Kajaki district a strike on a Taliban operations centre resulted in 5 Taliban fighters killed. A separate strike in Kajaki killed 6 Taliban fighters.”
The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the operations so far.
Helmand is among the relatively volatile provinces in South of Afghanistan.
Taliban militants are active in some of the restive districts of the province where they often attempt to carry out terrorist related activities against the government and security institutions.
