Pakistani media reported that 11 people, including five women and four children, were killed and 22 others were injured in an explosion and shooting incident in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The incident occurred on March 4, in the Bannu region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the reports, the clash also resulted in the deaths of six attackers. The attack targeted a military camp and soldiers’ homes, with Pakistani security forces being the primary victims.
The Dawn newspaper reported that 10 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the assault. The attack was reportedly carried out by at least two bombers and several gunmen, who targeted a military camp and the homes of Pakistani soldiers.
The responsibility for the attack has been claimed by a group associated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), known as “Jaysh al-Fursan.” This group is believed to have carried out the deadly assault as part of ongoing violence in the region.
The Pakistani government has strongly condemned this attack and has committed to intensifying military operations against terrorist groups. In a statement, the Prime Minister of Pakistan emphasized, “These cowardly attacks only strengthen our resolve to eradicate terrorism.”
The military has also announced that a cleanup operation has begun in the Bannu region and its surroundings to prevent such attacks from happening again.
These incidents underscore the growing threat posed by militant groups in Pakistan, particularly those affiliated with the TTP, which has been increasing its attacks on security forces and civilians. The Pakistani government faces significant challenges in addressing the escalating violence and ensuring security in affected regions.
The attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan highlight the persistent instability in Pakistan, driven by the activities of militant groups like the TTP. Continued efforts are needed to tackle the root causes of this violence and protect civilians from further harm.
