At least 10 Taliban militants were killed during joint military operations by Afghan and coalition security forces in various provinces of Afghanistan, the interior ministry of Afghanistan announced Monday.
Interior ministry officials also added that three militants were also arrested during the operations which were conducted in the past 24 hours.
The interior ministry in a statement said, “In past 24 hours, Afghan National Police conducted several joint clearance operations with the cooperation of Afghan National Army, NDS and Coalition Forces to clean some of the areas from terrorists and enemies of peace and stability of Afghanistan.”
The statement further added, “The operations were conducted in Laghman, Parwan, Kandahar, Zabul, Maidan Wardak, Helmand and Nimroz provinces, as a result 10 armed Taliban were killed and three others were arrested by Afghan National Security Forces.”
“Also, during these operations, Afghan National Police discovered and confiscated some amount of light and heavy rounds ammunition,” the statement added.
Afghan National Police discovered and defused three different types of mines placed by enemies of Afghanistan for destructive activities in Nangarhar and Laghman provinces, interior ministry added in its statement.
Taliban militants group yet to comment regarding the reports.
