An explosion took place in west of Kabul earlier this afternoon killing at least five people and injuring ten others.

Officials in the ministry of interior confirmed that the explosion took place in Dar-ul-Aman area of the city.

The officials further added that the explosion targeted a vehicle which was transporting a group of governmental employees.

Dr. Wahidullah Mayar, a spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health confirmed that the explosion killed five people and wounded at least 10 others.

He said the ministry has received initial figures regarding the casualties’ toll and the exact figure may change.

In the meantime, sources in Independent Administrative Reform and Civil Service Commission are saying that the explosion has killed four employees of the commission.

No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility for the explosion.

This comes as an explosion ripped through the vehicle of Education University in Kabul city on Sunday.

The explosion killed two people and wounded at least ten others.
