At least 10 Afghan security members, including two commanders, have been killed in a Taliban ambush on Faizabad and Yaftal district of Badakhshan, a local official confirmed.

Sanaullah Rohani, spokesperson for Badakhshan governor confirmed that the Taliban launched an attack on different outposts on the outskirts of Faizabad city on Thursday evening, killing at least 10 Afghan security force members.

However, other local sources who asked to remain anonymous, told Khaama Press that at least 10 people including the security forces were killed during a Taliban attack on the Yaftal-e-Bala area, the outskirts of Faizabad city.

The sources confirmed that two Afghan commanders were also killed in the Taliban’s attack and some of the Afghan security forces have been taken hostage by the Taliban.

The situation in Badakhshan is alarming and most of the areas in the outskirts are being taken by the Taliban, sources told Khaama Press.

According to the sources, the Taliban have seized military vehicle and lots of weapons and ammunition.

This comes as that the Taliban have accelerated their attacks in many parts of the country and a number of heavy fights are underway in a different areas and districts, mainly in the northern provinces of Afghanistan.
