One person out 30 who were kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Kabul-Kandahar highway on Monday has been freed.
Local officials confirm the release.
Abdul Khaliq Ayoubi, District Governor of Shah Joy District, where the abduction took place, says that gunmen have demanded the discharge of one of their vehicles seized.
It is unknown what might be loaded in that truck or weather gunmen would free the kidnapped people if the truck is let go.
The demand was made to some local elders.
On Monday unidentified gunmen who had their faces covered abducted 30 passengers of two passenger buses on Kabul-Kandahar high way in Zabul Province.
Eyewitnesses say that the gunmen most of them in black cloths stopped the passenger buses, collected money and phones from the passengers and abducted them.
It is still unknown who the kidnappers are.
The gunmen had stopped the buses on gun point and abducted 30 passengers of those buses who are reportedly all Hazara minority.
The group has not said anything about their identity. Taliban insurgents have also no commented on the report yet.
Officials say they are trying for the safe release of those kidnapped.
