Security officials of southern Kandahar province say the attack on the police headquarters and national directorate of security of Maiwand district ended with leaving a police officer, 4 civilians and 5 attackers killed.
Zia Durani, spokesman for Kandahar police says one of the assailants carried a suicide attack at the door of the district police headquarters and other 4 started a gun battle with the security forces which ended after about an hour.
Taliban have claimed the responsibility for the attack.
Maiwand district is located 70 kilometers west of the Kandahar city which has border with Hilmand and some of the other restive districts in Kandahar.
