Visiting U.S. congressional delegation promises defending Afghanistan in congress

ARGPresident Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with members of the U.S. House of Representatives in Presidential Palace on Sunday.

The two sides talked on different issues including the war on terror, strengthening Afghan National Security and Defense forces and improving cooperation between the United States and Afghanistan on the situation of the region and world.

President Ghani said that the relationship between the United States and Afghanistan are fundamental and our efforts are well cooperated.

Threats from terrorism bring closer the common interests of the two countries and creates need for working together for responding to them, President Ghani told the delegation.

Pointing to terrorism, he said as spending is taking place on regional and world level to stop the cultivation, production and trafficking of drugs, a global solution is needed against this phenomenon too.

The U.S. congressional delegation praised the ability of the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces and thanked them for their sacrifices.

The delegation announced its support for the programs of Afghanistan and promised President Ghani of defending the country in congress.
