US soldier die following militants attack in Afghanistan

A US soldier was killed following militants attack in eastern Afghanistan on Thursday.

NATO-led International Security Assistance Force following a statement announced, “A U.S. Forces-Afghanistan service member died today following an insurgent attack in eastern Afghanistan.”

The source did not disclose further information regarding the exact location of the incident and identity of the deceased soldier saying, “It is USFOR-A policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the U.S. Department of Defense, who will release the name once next of kin have been notified.”

This is the first US soldier killed in Afghanistan in 2013. Around 310 US soldiers were killed following various incidents across the country in 2012, according to icasualties which tracks the coalition forces casualties in Afghanistan.
