US drone kill top Taliban leaderA prominent Taliban commander was killed following a US drone strike in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan on Monday, local officials said.

Gul Marjan, district chief for Manogi district confirming the report said the drone strike was carried out around 9am local time in this district.

The district chief for Manogi further added that the prominent Taliban leader, Haji Dawran was killed along with three others, including his brother and two Taliban group members.

According to reports, US drones have carried out at least five airstrikes during the past three days in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan.

Manogi district chief, Gul Marjan also added that the death of the prominent Taliban leader, Haji Dawran will have a positive impact over the security sitution of Kunar province.

The Taliban leader, Haji Dawran was operating in Watapur, Manogi, Chapa Dara, and Chawki districts of Kunar province, besides having operations in a number of districts in Nuristan province, the officials said.

He was also involved in the abduction and murder of the British female aid worker, who was killed by Haji Dawran militants after NATO forces launched an operation to free the aid worker.

Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the death of Haji Dawran so far.
