UNAMA facilitates meeting between Abdullah and election commission

UNAMA following a statement said, the meeting allowed for an exchange of views and included all of the Commissioners and Dr. Abdullah and his electoral advisers.
The statement furhter added that the UN Mission has been encouraging the Presidential candidates to fully engage in the electoral process and cooperate with each other and with the electoral institutions as they undertake their mandated roles.
UNAMA said it will continue to support the electoral process that remains fully in the hands of Afghan electoral institutions and stakeholders and remains their sole responsibility.
Abdullah halted his all ties with the Independent Election Commission and Independent Electoral Complaints Commission after accusing the two electoral bodies for being involved in electoral fraud.
Abdullah had also demanded to suspend chief electoral officer Ziaulhaq Amarkhil who stepped down on Monday.
Amarkhil was accused by Abdullah for industrial scale fraud in favor of his rival Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai.
