Teenager Afghan boy sexually abused, murdered in Herat

Local authorities in western Herat province of Afghanistan on Monday said a teenager Afghan boy was murdered by unknown men after he was sexually abused in this province.

Afghan police officials confirmed they have arrested 3 men in connection to the abuse and murder of the 13 year old Afghan boy.

According to reports the deceased Afghan boy was recognized as Younus and a school student.

Provincial security chief Abdul Hamid Hamidi said the teenager boy was abused by his neighboring and was killed by the men.

This comes as there has been a growth in sexual abuse and rape cases in Afghanistan during the recent moths.

A five year old Afghan girl was raped by a man in northern Balkh province.

In the meantime local police officials in Herat province said the detained men are police officers and are residents of southern Kandahar and eastern Logar province.

In a separate incident an Afghan woman was killed along with her new born baby in Adraskan district of western Herat province on Friday.

A local security official said the incident took place following a verbal clash between the woman and her husband.

He said the man fled the area after killing his wife and new born baby.

Increasing honor killings and violence against women in western Herat province of Afghanistan has created tensions among rights organizations and local residents in this province.

According to reports at least 30 women were killed in this province during the past 8 months.
