Taliban Leader request detainees freedom in his letter to White House

A letter which was believed to be sent by Mullah Mohammad Omer, leader of the Taliban group was received by White House in 2011.
The letter requested Washington for the freedom of the Taliban detainees, which is considered to be one of the most vital issues in peace talks between Washington and the Taliban group.
According to reports, US officials have started discussions regarding the letter and doubt whether the letter was sent by the Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omer or any other individual using his name.
Reuters News Agency in its report emphasized that the letter will play an important role in peace efforts in Afghanistan.
A US official speaking on a condition of anonymity told Reuters, we have received various letters from individuals claiming they are senior Talian officials.
He also said, Washington has not received a real letter from the Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omer.
The letter which is believed to be sent by the Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omer shows the lack of patience of the Taliban group since the Washington has not decided to free 5 members of the Taliban group from Guantanamo.
According to Reuters News Agency, Washington is considering and evaluating the issue to transfer the Taliban detainees to Qatar under the authority of the Afghan government, as an act of goodwill which is also believed to pave the way for peace negotiations between the Taliban group and the Afghan government.
Taliban group following a statement last month also agreed to open their office in Qatar however it is still not clear whether the Taliban group are struggling to free their detainees or have real intentions to hold peace talks.
According to Reuters News Agency, the impact of the letter sent by the Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omer last year is still not clear on peace talks which is being managed by Marc Grossman Us special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan.
US officials doubt regarding the letter since there is no signature on the letter which is sent by Mullah Mohammad Omer.
However US officials confirm that same issues and topics have been mentioned in the letter which was proposed by the Taliban group and its members in the past.
US officials also confirmed that there have been no agreement for the transfer of the Taliban detainees since the US congress oppose with the idea of the Taliban detainees transfer.
US congress officials believe that Taliban group are not trusthworthy and the Taliban group will continue to their fight as soon as their detainees are freed.
