Taliban bombers attack local council in Kandahar

Afghan policeA heavy explosion rocked southern Kandahar province on Sunday, local government officials said.

The officials further added, the incident took place in Spin Boldak district after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives.

Provincial police chief Gen. Abdul Razaq confirming the report said the blast took place near the Spin Boldak district compound.

In the meantime local residents are saying a group of the Taliban militants attacked local council in Spin Boldak district. There are no reports regarding the number of the Taliban militants who attacked the council building.

Gen. Abdul Raza said the Taliban militants managed to enter the local council building after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives near the council building gate and the second bomber detonated explosives inside the building.

An official in Spin Boldak district hospital said at least 15 people wounded in the attack have been taken to the hospital so far but local residents are saying that several other people have been trapped under the building which was destroyed following the blast.

Provincail governor spokesman Javid Faisal also confirmed at least 15 people were injured following the blast.

Taliban group yet to comment regarding the incident.
