Taliban attack fuel installation in Herat province of Afghanistan

The officials further added at least one security guard of the fuel installation was killed and another one was injured following the attack.
In the meantime another security official speaking on the condition of anonymity said the clashes started around 9 pm local time on Wednesday night while a group of Taliban militants were looking to torch oil tankers and were resisted by Afghan police forces.
Herat is among the peaceful region in western Afghanistan however militants have increased their insurgency activities in a number of its districts during the recent years.
However last night’s incident was the first such attack carried out by Taliban militants on a fuel installation.
According to reports the militants managed to flee the area following the clashes and Afghan security forces have launched an investigation in this regard.
Taliban militants group yet to comment regarding the report.
