Suicide blast kill senior provincial minister in Peshawar

Senior provincial minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour was among eight people killed Saturday after a suicide bomber blew himself up near a meeting of the Awami National Party (ANP) in Peshawar, the capital of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The attack took place when Bashir Bilour was exiting the residence of a local ANP leader following a meeting, along with his personal secretary and SHO Kabuli Police Station.
Police officer Arfan Khan says the bombing Saturday in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, also wounded more than 20 people.
Both the personal secretary as well as the SHO, Sattar Khan were killed on the spot. Bashir Bilour was brought to the hospital in critical condition and was unconscious.
Police and hospital officials confirmed that at least seven other people , including a police SHO and Bilour’s personal secretary, were also killed in the blast in the Dhaki Nalbandi area near the busy Qissa Khwani Bazaar.
Many nearby buildings and vehicles, parked near the blast site, have been also damaged in the blast. It is feared that the death toll can mount further as many injured are in critical condition.
President Asif Ali Zardari has strongly condemned Peshawar blast. He has expressed sympathies with the bereaved families. He also directed to provide best medical assistance to the injured.
