Shahrukh Khan high earnings tops Forbes India Celebrity list

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni follows superstar Shahrukh Khan in the list of India’s biggest entertainers and are on the second and third spot.
Thr ranking also incudes Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Kareena Kapoor, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli and Katrina Kaif and are among the top 10.
According to the official website of Forbes, King Khan occupies the top spot courtesy his earning power despite both Salman and Dhoni are ahead of Shah Rukh in terms of popularity and fame.
Shahrukh Khan’s earning power mainly comes from riding on massive income from brand endorsements, according to the website which estimates that Shahrukh Khan who also features on the magazine’s cover, earned Rs.202.8 crore, compared to Salman’s Rs.144.2 crore and Dhoni’s Rs.135.16 crore in the said period.
The source also added that The Forbes India’s special edition “decodes what lies behind the success of India’s biggest creative entrepreneurs across eight categories: film actors, directors, sport stars, TV personalities, singers/musicians, authors, models and comedians.”
The list was arrived at after a rigorous data collection process that considered the celebrities’ income (from the business of entertainment) and fame (as measured by media mentions, online presence and social media followers) in a definite time period, according to India Today.
Dhoni, captain of the Indian cricket team, is the top sportsperson, while Oscar-winning composer A.R.Rahman leads the pack of singers/musicians and is the only representative of the category in the top 20.
Malaika Arora Khan is the leading TV personality, and Karan Johar is the most powerful director. Author Chetan Bhagat, comedian Vir Das and model Esha Gupta topped their respective categories.
