Senior Taliban leader detained in Kandahar province

A senior Taliban commander was detained following a joint military operation by Afghan and coalition security forces in southern Afghanistan.
NATO-led International Security Assistance Force following a statement announced, Afghan and coalition security force detained one of the senior Taliban leaders for Spin Boldak district, Kandahar province, in Nad ‘Ali district, Helmand province.
The source further added, the leader controlled several insurgent cells throughout southern Afghanistan and coordinated the construction and use of home-made explosives and improvised explosive devices for attacks against coalition and Afghan forces.
During the operation, the Afghan and coalition security force also detained one suspected insurgent. Anti-government armed militant groups yet to comment regarding the report.
