Security threats level against election runoff on higher side: Daudzai

Interior Minister, Mohammad Omar Daudzai said Saturday that the security threats level against the election runoff is on the higher side and necessary precautions have been taken by security forces regarding the security threats.
The Afghan Intelligence – National Directorate of Security (NDS) Chief, Rahmatullah Nabil confirmed that the security threats have been recognized and necessary actions have been taken to thwart the threats.
The issue was shared during a summit to discuss the election runoff security a day after the convoy of Dr. Abdullah Abdullah was attacked in capital Kabul.
The summit was attended by high level security officials, election officials and presidential contender Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai; however, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah was not present in the meting.
In the meantime, Interior Minister, Mohammad Omar Daudzai said the security forces were not properly informed by Abdullah’s campaign team regarding his programs on Friday.
Daudzai said the security forces were not aware of one of the gathering which was due to be attend by Dr. Abdullah on Friday.
He said the two presidential contenders were to inform the security institutions at least 48 hours regarding their programs so that strict security precautions should be taken.
Abdullah’s convoy was attacked on Friday afternoon after leaving a gathering in Ariana hotel in western part of Kabul city which left at least six people dead and nearly twenty two others injured.
