Protesters ask govt not to allow Fazal-ur-Rehman to enter Kabul

fazal rehmanDozens of people including civil society activists participated in a rally on Thursday to demonstrate against the visit of Pakistani religious cleric Mawlana Fazal-ur-Rehman to Kabul.

The protesters asked the government not to allow Fazal to enter Kabul since he has endorsed the Taliban-led insurgency in AAfghanistan

The rally participants also called for an immediate end to Taliban-led insurgency and killings of the innocent Afghan civilians.

Maulana Fazul-ur-Rehman, a pro-Taliban Pakistani political leader, is due to visit Kabul along with a delegation of Pakistani officials to discuss the regional security.

Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Isfandyar Wali and Afrasyab Khattack are also among the Pakistani political party leaders who are due to visit Kabul.

Fazal has endorsed the Taliban extremism in Afghanistan, calling the insurgency by Taliban militants a legitimate war against the foreign forces.

The remarks by Fazal-ur-Rehman were followed after a meeting with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani who visited Pakistan on a two-day state visit shortly after taking office as the new President of Afghanistan.
