Pakistan’s Frontier Corps officials have said an Afghan soldier who was captured by the security forces few days earlier has been returned to the Afghan authorities.

The officials further added that the Afghan soldier was arrested shorly after entering the Kurram Agency in the tribal regions of the country.

According to the officials, the soldier identified Zabiullah was handed over to the authorities in the presence of FC Commandant Colonel Farrukh Humayoun and other tribal officials.

It is believed that the soldier had crossed into Kurram Agency via the Karlachi crossing point along the line.

This comes as the relations between the two countries remain strained mainly due to the presence of the terror groups on both sides of the Durand Line.

The Pakistani military earlier said at least two soldiers were killed and four others were wounded after militants attacked them from the Afghan soil.

However, the Afghan officials are saying that the ongoing situation in Afghanistan has direct links with the leadership councils of the Taliban and the notorious Haqqani terrorist network located in Peshawar, Quetta, and other cities of the country.

The Pakistani officials however claim that no sanctuaries of the Taliban and Haqqani network exist in their territory.
