Pakistan fires 30 missiles in Kunar province

Monday, October 10, 2011 – According to local authorities in eastern Afghanistan, at least 30 artillery rounds have been fired by Pakistani in eastern Kunar province following the fresh series of cross border shelling, during the past 24 hours.
The officials further added, the artillery shells hit a number of villages in Nari district of Kunar province.
Provincial police chief, Gen. Mohammad Nazari said, the artillery attacks continued until late night and around 30 missiles were fired in Nari district of Kunar province.
Meanwhile, provincial governor spokesman Wasifullah Wasifi said, around 25 missiles were fired in Bisyar area of Nari district, forcing around 150 families to evacuate their homes.
Provincial governor for eastern Kunar province Fazalullah Wahdi urged the Ministry of Defense and other security institution to take actions against the increasing Pakistani cross border shelling.
He also emphasized that the cross border shelling issue with the Pakistan will not be solved through diplomatic discussions.
