Afghan president Hamid Karzai urges for an immediate halt to night time raids in Afghanistan.
In an interview with the Newsweek, Afghan president Hamid Karzai said that the night raids should be immediately stopped and the action should be taken now and not before or after 2014.
This comes as the NATO officials emphasize for the effective outcome of night time raids to crackdown the militants in Afghanistan.
The stance of President Hamid Karzai in regards to the night raids by NATO troops is believed to create barriers towards Afghanistan and United States long term strategic cooperation agreement.
In the meantime, Afghan President Hamid Karzai also expressed his concerns on US Taliban peace talks and Taliban liaison office establishment in Qatar.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai quoted by Newsweek said, peace talks with the Taliban group is led by the United States of America and is not under the leadership of the Afghans, the issue has been shared with the US officials.
Meanwhile, Afghan President Hamid Karzai announced his support for the establishment of Taliban liaison office in Qatar.
He said, we are committed to cooperate with Taliban’s Qatar office in order to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan and emphasized that the leadership of the talks with the Taliban group should belong to the Afghans only.
A spokesman for the Afghan presidential palace Aimal Faizi on Saturday said, Afghanistan agrees with the Taliban and Washington peace talks but this does not mean that Kabul supports the process.
Mr. Faizi emphasized that all peace negotiations should be leaded by Afghans.
