More than 300 shops burnt in eastern Khost province

More than 300 shops were burnt in eastern Khost city, incurring millions losses to the shop owners in this province.

Provincial security chief for eastern Khost province Gen. Sardar Mohammad Zazai told reporters, the incident took place after fire erupted in wood stores at southern regions of the city around 3 am local time.

Gen. Zazai added, the fire fighting process continued dawn time and there were no casualties as a result of the incident.

He also said, around 300 shops were burnt but he did not provide further details regarding the exact losses as a result of the fire incident.

According to Gen. Zazai, the main reason behind the incident is unclear and he said that investigations have been started to find the out the facts.

A local shopkeeper Gul Karim said, his shop was completely burn when he arrived at the scene of the incident on Friday.

He also said, there were around 500,000 Afghanis worth of goods in his shops and was totally damaged and burn.

He also urged the security officials to detain those involved behind the incident.
