Iranian man found dead in western Afghanistan

nw afghan herat19According to local authorities in western Herat province of Afghanistan, the dead body of an Iranian citizen was found in Injil district on on Wednesday morning.

Provincial security chief Gen. Abdul Hamid Hamid confirming the report said the deceased Iranian citizen was a truck driver and his body was found on Herat-Islama Qala highway.

Mr. Hamid further added his body was found in Ishaq Khel area in Injil district.

Herat is relatively is a peaceful province in western Afghanistan however Taliban militants have recently increased their activities in a number of districts.

Local residents are also concerned of activities by irresponsible armed individuals and smugglers besides the insurgents groups, who are saying that kidnappings have recently increased in various districts of Herat province.

In the meantime provincial security chief said Afghan security forces have launched an investigation in this regard and the findings will soon be presented to medias.

No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
