Honor Killing: Afghan woman murdered in Samangan province

Provincial security chief Mohammad Akram Bikzad said preliminary reports suggest that the imprisoned man had murdered his wife after he was motivated by his mother.
Mr. Bikzad further added special rooms have been created for the prisoners to meet with the close family members in the jail and the imprisoned man used the opportunity to murder his wife.
He said, “The man had murdered his mother in law, sister in law and brother in law three years back and was sentenced to jail. He also murdered his wife on late Monday evening.”
Provincial security chief Mohammad Akram Behzad also added the woman was reportedly killed after the mother of imprisoned man motivated him and charged his wife with illicit relation with another man.
Mr. Bikzad also said the mother of the imprisoned man was arrested in this regard. The woman was 18 year old and was mother of a small baby.
He did not disclose further information regarding the assassination of three family members of the deceased woman three years back.
Rights activists and independent human rights commission of Afghanistan strongly condemned the death of the woman and called on Afghan judiciary institutions to try those involved behind the murder.
Afghan lawmaker and women rights activist Najia Aimaq urged the Afghan government to take strict actions for trying those involved behind the tragic murder of the young woman.
