High level Taliban leader killed in Ghazni province

Provincial police chief Zarawar Zahid on Friday said Mawlavi Abdul Wakil who replaced Hafiz Sardar was killed following an ambush by Afghan police forces.
Mawlavi Abdul Wakil was one of the senior Taliban group leader who replaced Hafiz Sardar after he was killed by coalition security forces in Rashidan area.
He was the second top Taliban commander killed during the past one week in Ghazni province and his death has reportedly created tensions among the Taliban group.
Mawlavi Abdul Wakil was also accused of murdering Qazi Sahib Shah provincial council chief and chief of the appeal court in provincial attorney general department.
Provincial police chief also said district chief for Khawaj Omri also lost his two legs following the attack which was carried out by Mawlavi Abdul Wakil.
He said Mawlavi Abdul Wakil was killed on Thursday night in Barakat village at Khawaja Omri district.
Ghazni province is located in central eastern Afghanistan where Taliban militants and other insurgents groups are openly operating in its various districts.
Taliban militants group yet to comment regarding the death of Mawlavi Abdul Wakil.
