Gunmen assassinate Laghman Women Affairs Chief

Head of the provincial women affairs department for eastern Laghman province of Afghanistan was killed by unknown gunmen on Monday
morning.

Provincial governor spokesman said Najia Sediqi was assassinated by unknown gunmen while she was on her way towards her office.

Fazal Ahmad Shirzad provincial security chief for Laghman province said two unknown gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire on Najia Sediqi and killed her on the spot.

Local security officials said they have launched an investigation to find out the motive behind the attack and arrest those involved behind the incident.

No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.

In the meantime husband of provincial women affairs acting chief said he knows the assailant gunmen. This comes as ex-provincial women affairs chief was assassinated by unknown gunmen in Mehtarlam city.

Hanifa Safi was killed after her vehicle struck with a roadside bomb around five months back.
