Governor of southern Kandahar province has been investigating embezzlement in Dahla Dam Project.
Homayoun Azizi told reporters on Thursday that $71 million have been spent on the project but the work does not appear to be of that much.
He said during a press that Kabul has been informed and requested to send a delegation to Kandahar to conduct a thorough investigation of the project.
According to Azizi, the project was awarded by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to 77 Turkish Construction and Trading Company but none of the project related documents were provided to the provincial administration.
He went on to say that the installation of a Turbine is also part of the project and until the project is not completed he will not receive it.
Upon its completion according to the standards, the dam would be able to irrigate Panjwai, Zheri, Maiwand, Shah Wali Kot, Arghandab, Daman and Dand District and produce 10 mega watts of electricity.
