Female school teacher murdered in Baghlan province

According to local authorities in northern Baghlan province, an Afghan female teacher was stabbed and assassinated by her brother in this province.

The officials further added, the incident took place at central Baghlan Baghlan district near the Sugar factory late Tuesday evening around 6 pm local time.

Provincial women’s affairs chief in northern Baghlan province Rahima Zarifi said, the deceased female teacher was recognized as Seema and used to teach in one of the schools in the Sugar Factory area in central Baghlan district and was murdered by her own brother.

She also added, the brother of Seema managed to flee the area after assassinating her sister and the Afghan security forces have launched a search operation to detain him.

She did not disclose further information regarding the main motive behind the assassination of her.

According to Rahima Zarifi violence against women have increased in northern Baghlan province as compared to previous year where 150 cases of violence against women were registered last year while 180 cases including 14 murder cases have been registered this year in this province.

This comes as another female teacher Fahima was raped by unknown gunmen in the same area few months earlier.
