Explosion kills Dr. Abdullah’s campaigner in northern Afghanistan

110412_abdullah_abdullahAnother campaigner of Dr. Abdullah Abdullah died following an explosion in northern Faryab province of Afghanistan, local officials said.

The incident took place late Friday in Almar district following an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion.

Provincial security chief, Toryalai Obadyani confirmed that a campaigner of Dr. Abdullah Abdullah died following the explosion late Friday in Almar district.

Mr. Obadyani further added that a civilian was also injured following the explosion.

Officials in Dr. Abdullah Abdullah’s electoral office condemned the death of the campaigner.

This is the third time militants attack the campaigners of Dr. Abdullah Abdullah since the beginning of the election campaigns earlier in February.

Unknown gunmen shot dead two campaigners of Dr. Abdullah Abdullah at the beginning of election campaign in western Herat province of Afghanistan.

Another campaigner of Dr. Abdullah Abdullah was killed earlier in February in northern Sar-e-Pul province of Afghanistan.

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah is one of the 11 candidates for the upcoming presidential elections. No group has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
