Amir Hamza, head of the IEC office in Kunduz province said the office was closed after they received numerous security threats during the recent days.
The officials said that the IEC office will not be reopened until security threats have not been thwarted.
In the meantime, local security officials have dismissed that the security issues are threatening the election office in Kunduz province.
Provincial police spokesman, Syed Sarwar Hussaini said the IEC office in Kunduz province has been closed due to other reasons.
Hussaini rejected any security threat that has led to the closure of the IEC office in this province.
This comes as dozens of supporters of Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on Sunday participated in a demonstration and urged for the suspension of IEC Secretariat chief Ziaulhaq Amarkhil.
