At least 10 Taliban militants killed In Kandahar province

Monday, November 28, 2011 – According to local authorities in southern Afghanistan, at least 10 Taliban militants were killed following a joint military operation in southern Kandahar province.
Media Department of 205 Atal Afghan national army commandment following a statement said, the operations were conducted by Afghan and NATO-led international coalition forces in Maiwand district of southern Kandahar province.
The source further added, the joint military operation under the name of Omid-e-Atal to destroy a safe haven of the Taliban militants in the region.
The officials also said, Afghan and coalition forces seized some weapons and ammunitions including 50 barrels of explosives and 30 land mines.
In a separate operation, Afghan security forces seized around 16 improvised explosive devices in panjwai district of southern Kandahar province on Sunday.
Taliban militants fighting the Afghan government and NATO-led foreign troops yet to comment regarding the operations.
