Afghanistan denies assigning certain provinces to Taliban

Officials in Afghan Presidential Palace deny reports which says that the Afghan government is intending to hand over a number of the provinces to Taliban group.

A spokesman for president Hamid Karzai said, the Afghan government will not accept the offer and will not violate the national sovereignty of Afghanistan.

Aimal Faizi said, Afghanistan denies reports which has been published by a number of medias in regards to the hand over of a number of regions in Afghanistan to Taliban group. The stance of the Afghan government towards the national sovereignty is clear and Afghanistan will not accept such offers.

He also said, all violence and clashes should end in Afghanistan before any peace negotiations take place.

In regards to the visit of Afghan delegation to Qatar Mr. Faizi said that the Afghan government has not taken any decision in this regard so far.

In the meantime some reports suggests that the United States of America is willing to declare a cease fire in southern regions of Afghanistan as soon as peace talks are launched with the militants groups in Afghanistan.
