According to Afghan foreign ministry, a delegation has been sent to Greece in order to investigate the death of Afghan immigrants who were killed after their boats sank in Greek Island.

An official in Afghan foreign ministry speaking on the condition of anonymity confirmed the report and said at least 28 immigrants have died.

He said only one Afghan survived and the delegation will visit Greece to identify the deceased immigrants.

He also added the dead bodies of the immigrants will be handed over to their families in Afghanistan after investigation was completed.

Reports suggest the group of immigrants including women and children left Turkey around 10 days ago and were on their way towards Greece.

This comes as several Afghan immigrants have died in similar incidents in the past. Economic problems and security issues are the main motives which forces Afghans to flee from their home land.
