Clashes in capital Kabul as security forces hunt suicide bombers

Clashes reported in capital KabulAfghan intelligence — National Directorate of Security (NDS) forces have launched a military operation to detain a number of suspected suicide bombers in capital Kabul.

An NDS official speaking on the condition of anonymity said the suicide bombers and militants were plotting attack on funeral ceremony of former Afghan high peace council chief, Burhanuddin Rabbani.

The official further added, the operation was conducted in Charahi Qambar area of Kabul city and one of the suicide bomber has detonated his explosives.

He also added that Afghan intelligence forces are still hunting the remaining bombers and militants.

In the meantime, Gen. Mohammad Daud Amin, deputy security chief for capital Kabul said several Afghan security forces were injured during the operation.

He did not disclose further information regarding the operations, and casualties of the suspected suicide bombers and militants.

Local residents and eyewitnesses in the area said at least three suicide bombers were killed during the operation last night. One of the suicide bombers managed to detonate his explosives, while two other suicide bombers were shot dead by security forces.
