Afghan civilian casualties increases to 40%

Sediq Sediqi Afghan Interior Affairs Ministry spokesman on Monday said, around 27 Afghan civilians were killed in various incidents across the country during the past one week.
While speaking during a press conference Mr. Sediqi said, the majority of the civilian casualties are comprised of Takhar suicide bombing which struck an Afghan tribal elder funeral.
He also said, around 61 militants were killed and more than 166 others were detained following military operations by Afghan security forces during this period.
The death toll of the militants also shows an increased as compared to previous periods.
On the other hand, at least 19 Afghan police service members were killed and 40 others were injured which shows an increase of 5% as compared previous periods.
In the meantime Afghan Interior Affairs Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediq, Afghan security forces are due to hand over the security responsibilities for western Nimroz province on Tuesday.
