Concerns for poor education system in Baghlan girls school

Monday, November 21, 2011 – Dozens of female secondary school students in Baladori school at Pul-e-Khumri city of northern Baghlan province expressed concerns for facing unknown fate after completing their education up to class eight since the named secondary school provides limited education.

Currently more than 40 female students are studying in Baladori school at pul-e-Khumri city of northern Baghlan province.

The students complains for having limited classrooms and are usually conducting classes at open environment and are facing serious issues during the winter times when they are attending the annual term examinations.

They also urged the provincial education department in northern Baghlan province to change their school from secondary to higher secondary education level.

In the meantime, Maryam the principal of the Baladori secondary school in Pul-e-Khumri city of northern Baghlan province confirming the issues of the students said, the Baladori school lacks classrooms which was built the provincial education department of northern Baghlan province in cooperation with an international non-governmental organization two years back.

She also said, currently the named school provides education facilities both for boys and girls students during the morning and in the afternoon.

According to principal of the Baladori secondary school, the environment of the school in Pul-e-Khumri city is having space to construct further classrooms but this has not been considered by the governmental education department or any international non-governmental organization.

In the meantime, Mohammad Syed Mansoor provincial education chief for northern Baghlan province admits the issues of the Baladori secondary school and said works are in progress to resolve the issues being faced by the students of this school.

According to the officials of Baladori secondary school, more than 1300 boys and girls students are currently enrolled for the secondary education in this school and more than 20 teachers are providing education services to the students of Baladori secondary school in Pul-e-Khumri city.
