302 militants killed in northern Afghanistan operations

Wednesday, November 02, 2011 – According to Afghan security officials in northern Afghanistan, at least 302 militant insurgents were killed in multiple Afghan security operations since the beginning of Afghan solar year.
The officials further added, the operations were conducted by Afghan security forces in nine provinces located in northern regions of Afghanistan.
Lal Mohammad Ahmadzai, spokesman for the 303 Pamir Zone security commandment while speaking during a press conference said, Afghan security forces independently conducted at least 25 operations in northern regions of the country while the 35 other operations were conducted jointly by Afghan and coalition forces.
Mr. Ahmadzai further added, at least 302 militants were killed and 151 others including 15 Taliban commanders were detained following the operations.
He also said, Afghan security forces also seized a number of weapons and explosive devices during the operations.
According to Lal Mohammad Ahmazai spokesman for 303 Pamir Zone security commandment, at least 42 militants group including 600 militants joined the Afghan peace process in northern Afghanistan, and handed over their weapons to Afghan government.
He also said, at least 57 civilians and 42 Afghan police forces were also killed during the this period in northern regions of Afghanistan.
