48 ISIS militants killed in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan

dead militants Afghanistan_censoredAt least 48 militants fighting for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group were killed during the operations in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the militants were killed during the operations conducted in the vicinity of Achin district.

MoD further added that the operations were jointly conducted by Afghan army and other security institutions including the Afghan Air Force.

Some weapons and ammunition belonging to the terror group were also destroyed during the raids, MoD said.

The loyalists of the terror group have not commented regarding the report so far.

This comes as defense minister Gen. Abdullah Habibi visited Nangarhar province on Wednesday to meet the provincial officials and discuss the launch of a major operation against ISIS terrorist group and other militant groups in this province.

The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) have stepped up operations against the loyalists of ISIS terrorist group amid concerns that they are attempting to expand foothold in the country.

The US forces in Afghanistan are also conducted regular airstrikes against the loyalists of the terror group in Nangarhar province.
