14 militants killed and injured in Nangarhar province

According to local officials in eastern Nangarhar province at least 14 militants were killed and injured following joint military operation by Afghan and international coalition security forces in Khogyani and Shirzad districts.
Provincial governor spokesman Ahmad Zia Abduzai said, at least 10 militants were killed and 4 others were injured following airstrikes at Shirzad and Khogyani districts.
Mr. Abdulzai further added at least 3 militants leaders including Saifullah, Bilal and Mia Nizullah were among those injured following the operations.
He also said, local residents and armed insurgents are attacking a team of the counter-narcotics campaign who are destroyed the opium fields in the area during the past 3 days.
At least 3 Afghan police officers were injured following militants attack yesterday where Afghan security forces detained 14 militants along with their weapons while responding to militants attacks, Abdulzai said.
According to reports campaigns against the opium fields have been launched in 7 districts of eastern Nangarhar province one month ago and is in progress.
Around 900 hectares of land have been cleared from the opium so far.
